Hike #27: King Road to Highway #5 Burlington

Today we parked our car at Cityview Park in Burlington. We only brought one car today knowing that the King Road access is closed.  We had planned on parking roadside at Highway #5 just east of Kerns road in Burlington but decided that parking on this busy road a little too risky.  There were a few cars that risked the roadside parking despite the snowbanks. Cityview Park was a much better option and very close to the trail.  From the parking lot we took the City View Park side trail to the Bruce Trail and then hiked west to King Road towards where we ended our last hike. King road is where we started our GPS tracker.

This section of the Bruce Trail was abundant with Cedar Trees.

There are a lot of well marked side trails that form loops with this section of the Bruce Trail.

A short section of the Bruce Trail parallels King Rd.

The City View Park Side Trail would have taken us back to our car but we decided to continue on to Highway #5 as originally planned. This section of the trail is a little more challenging due to the rolling hills and slippery conditions. Wouldn't have been an issue if we had spikes but we accidentally left the backpack containing our spikes at home by the door.

The photo below shows the entrance to the Ian Reid Side Trail. This interesting looking trail is one that we will likely come back and explore at a later date...preferably with spikes.

Once we arrived at Highway #5 we decided to take the road back to City View Park off of Kerns Road.
