Hike #26: Mill Street, Waterdown to King Road, Burlington

Mill Street (Waterdown) to King Road (Burlington)

Knowing that parking at Smokey Hallow Falls might be an issue, we started our hike on King Road in Burlington and hiked to Mill Street in Waterdown and then back again.  Normally there are spots for six cars on King road (south of Mountain Brow Road); however this steep section of King Road is currently closed due to winter conditions.  So we parked at the base of the steep section of King Road road and walked the 500 metres to the trail. For continuity, we hiked back to where we left off on our last hike. The photos are in order from Waterdown to Burlington.  This section of the Bruce Trail runs along a friendship trail - Offa's Dyke Path.

After hiking over to Mill Street and taking some winter shots of Smokey Hollow Falls we started our tracker and hiked back to our car on King Road.

This section of the trail is for hiking only; however we did see a mountain biker using the trail today.

After crossing Mill Street, the trail parallels a large open concrete culvert draining a subdivision then turns left to pass through a small copse of trees.

Section of trail that parallels a drainage ditch.  The ditch splits the trees in the distance to the North.

Culvert that drains into the concrete spillway.  This is where the trail turns west to enter a small copse of trees behind the subdivision.

The trail exits the copse and enters a subdivision at the end of Renwood Drive.

After crossing Mountain Brow Road and climbing over a stile we reentered wooded sections of the trail. Efforts to remove invasive trees have left these woods quite sparse.

This side trail takes one back to river at the base of Smokey Hollow Falls.  It is a difficult hike consisting of descending switch backs. The views were pleasant when we hiked this side trail last spring / summer.

Another stile.  This one was located at a service road that enters the woods from Mountain Brow Rd.
