Hike #53 BTC Parking Area 30 Sideroad Mulmur to Concession 10 South Nottawasaga & Garden of Eden Rd (Noisy River)We started today's hike at the BTC parking area on 30 Sideroad in Mulmur. I do not recommend approaching the parking area from from Ist Line EHS as it can hardly be called a road. The parking lot had washroom facilities (a porta-potty). We only brought one vehicle and left Peter's mountain bike (and a camping chair for Amanda) at our final destination - Concession 10 South Nottawasaga & Garden of Eden Rd. Biking out of the Noisy River valley after a long hike to retrieve the car was less than fun!

Trail from BTC parking area to Line 1 EHS |
The first section of the trail ran North on 1st Line EHS between farmers fields. It then turns left (west) on Mulmu-Nottawasag Towline Rd passing the small community of Lavender. It is here that we enter the Blue Mountains Section of the Bruce trail, leaving the Dufferin Hi-Lands section behind. We did not see a placard indicating this transition.

Shortly after crossing Lavender Hill Rd, the the trail turns right (north) along Concession 2 South Nottawasaga. It is easy to miss this right-hand turn. The trail then enters the woods and heads north into the Noisy River Provincial Nature Reserve.

The trail quickly turns left (west) to travel through the Noisy River Provincial Nature Reserve for approximately 3.5km before skirting a small lake. This area is dotted with chasms and large boulders. Sections of the trail pass through cedars and other sections though hardwoods. Many of the trees were displaying beautiful fall colours.

how was the bike ride back? I did a very similar route last fall too, except I started from Prince of Wales Dr (south of sideroad 25) where I parked and biked first - this way the bike ride was mostly downhill. Much rather bike downhill and walk uphill vs other way around, and I find biking first and walking second works better for me. Great photos!
ReplyDeleteGreat bike on mostly flat road, not too busy. There was one big hill.
