Hike #65 Ravenna to Kolapore

Hike #65 Ravenna (6th line) to Kolapore (Grey Road 2)

Today we started our hike on 6th line, just south of 18th Sideroad.  This is where the Bruce trail meets 6th line at a dead-end.  We left a bike at our destination on regional road 2 north of Kolapore.  The first 2 km's were on the road, heading south on 6th line, then west on regional road 119.  From there the trail enters the woods south of 119.

View south down 6th line.

Where 6th line meets Grey Road 119

View west down Grey Road 119.

Farmers fields flanking Grey Road 119.

Where the trail leaves Grey Road 119 heading south.

Heading south from Grey Road 119, the trail runs through some woods and a low lying marsh.  The trail descends through a ravine and crosses a sizeable stream.  We did observe some smaller crevasses along the way.

Farm fields viewed from the trail.

Boards to help navigate the low lying wetland.

Wooded area at the top of the ravine.

Perhaps a DIY smoker BBQ made from a fuel drum?

Crevasse.

Meadow encountered between wooded areas.

This box held a log book.  We left an entry.  It was a gorgeous, sunny day.

Another board walk.  This one lead to a bridge fording a stream.

One of may stiles encountered on this leg of the trail.

Trail running on the edge of grazing pasture - watch for cow patties.

Cattle grazing in pasture.  They predict a 60% chance of rain...

Stile over electrified fence that surrounds the pasture.

12th Sideroad

The trail continues west down 12th sideroad for ~700m, then continues southwest through farmland and woods to intersect Grey Road 19.

View west down 12th sideroad.

The trail leaves 12th sideroad at the edge of a farmer's field.

Farmer's field viewed from the trail.  Corn was as high as an elephant's eye...

The trail continues at the edge of the farm field.

An excellent view of the topography from this elevated bench adjacent to the farm field.

Stile at the border of the farm field and the woods through which the trail continues.

The trail climbs a bit here.

This side trail indicated by the marker did not appear on our map (Ed. 30.0)

As you can see the trail alternates between woods and farmland.

Again, this side trail did not appear on our BTC map (Ed. 30.0)

Another stile, another pasture.  Watch out for cow patties!

Stile at 19 Grey Road.

The trail crossed Grey Road 19 and continues southwest through a mixture of meadows and wooded landscape to eventually intersect with regional road 2 - our destination today.  This is where I left my mountain bike.

A section of pine trees.

This placard was also not on our BTC map (Ed. 30.0)

I love these tunnels that form between cedars.  I can see the light at the end!

Stile at regional road 2.  The opposite bank of the road descends quickly.

Note: regional road (Grey Road) 2 was a bit busy the day of our hike.  Watch for traffic when crossing the road.
